If you’ve read my welcome post, you’ll know that entrepreneurship is one of my biggest passions! There are lots of people who will shy away from launching their own business because they have been told that it’s too risky, it’ll never work, so on and so forth. To those negative stinkers, I say adieu! You will find below 6 WONDERFUL, EXCITING, COLORFUL, reasons to start off on your own!
1) Be your own boss!
This is one of my absolute favorite reasons to start working for yourself. Who doesn’t want to do things their own way and not have to be tied to making someone else’s dream happen when they could be making their own?
2) Spare time
Think about the last time you actually spent all 8 hours of your work day – actually WORKING. If you’re anything like me, you spend a little time at the water cooler, a little bit chatting with co-workers, a little at lunch, a little being interrupted and answering calls, and a little time on Facebook. We all fall victim to distractions in the workplace and know we could get all of our work done in a much shorter amount of time if we really put our minds to it. When you’re flying solo you can get all of your work done in the morning and have the rest of the day to yourself! You’re also more motivated to get things done because your livelihood depends on it!
3) Job security
Have you ever encountered the threat of downsizing or layoffs? If you have, you understand this! With entrepreneurship the security lies in the fact that you run the show and make the judgment calls…you can’t fire yourself!
4) Life-long learning
As an entrepreneur you have a thirst for knowledge and a desire to stay on top of the latest advances in your field. You are constantly learning so you can offer the biggest and best value to your customers which is fun and exciting!
5) Problem solving
Entrepreneurship requires daily practice in the art of problem solving. By flying solo and dealing with the problems that come along with being a business owner, you will be surprised how much better you are at solving problems in multiple areas of your personal life as well!
6) Location independence
If you decide to launch an online business you can free yourself from being tied to a certain location and operate your business from anywhere in the world! Making money AND getting to travel? That sounds like a win-win to me!
